We drove over to Wanaka to stay the night on our way to the next destination. Although we didn’t really DO anything in particular the scenery was beautiful enough to warrant posting a picture of the lake (which used to have lots of gold in it!). Also on the way to Franz Josef, we stopped and hiked over to the blue pools (glacial melt that was very very blue… and cold) as well as at the beach to dip our toes in the tasman sea. We would notice that each bridge we drove over had a sign post for the creek that ran underneath, and they all had strange and sometimes stupid names. The most memorable were: Stinky Creek and Random Creek. Also, most of the bridges were one lane wide!
